Equipment Use & Reservation

Equipment Use & Reservation — Important Notices

·       The Center’s cleanroom and membership management system are shared with the Nanoelectromechanical Systems Research Center (NEMS). Cleanroom access permissions are centrally managed by NEMS (including online tests and general training). If you already have cleanroom access for the Excellence Building, you do not need to obtain additional access permissions.

·       You must first apply for a TSRI membership account to obtain a user account. If you are a student, you must be affiliated with (linked to) a professor and have that affiliation approved.

Self-Operation (User-Operated Equipment)

1.To operate equipment by yourself, you must first pass the Center’s training and certification course for that specific piece of equipment to obtain usage privileges.

2.For the Center’s key equipment, reservations must be made on Chip Driven — Taiwan Semiconductor Resource Sharing Platform under the “self-operation” rules; other reservation methods will not be accepted. (See the Center’s instruments & equipment page for a list of key equipment.) For non-key equipment, please reserve directly on the Center’s website.

3.All equipment at the Center must be reserved before you can swipe to unlock and use it. Do not enter the cleanroom to use equipment unless you have a confirmed reservation.

4.Same-day reservations are not permitted for any equipment. Please reserve well in advance.

5.Currently, all equipment is only available for reservation during office hours.

6.Before using the equipment, please go to Room 207 of the Excellence Research Building to pick up the equipment access card, and remember to return it after use.

7.When opening equipment with your card, remember to swipe to close/lock the equipment after use; otherwise extra charges will be applied based on system-recorded time.

8.The Center charges by half-hour increments. For key equipment, billing follows the reserved time slot on the reservation website. Even if you use less than the reserved slot, you will be charged for the full reserved period. If you exceed the reserved time, additional fees will apply (partial half-hour usage is rounded up to a half-hour).

9.Follow all equipment-specific operating rules. If you are uncertain about any operation, stop using the equipment and consult Center staff or an experienced user. Users are fully liable for any damage or contamination caused by improper operation.

10.Report any abnormal equipment condition to Center staff immediately.

11.Fees will be billed monthly to the payer information provided at registration.

Delegated Operation (Center-Operated Service)

1.Please register an account in the commissioned operation service system first (payer: supervisor or professor / requester: engineer or student), and submit the commissioned operation request. The responsible personnel will then confirm the request details and the subsequent procedure with you. (For key equipment commissioning, please do not make reservations directly through the booking system; such reservations will be canceled directly.)

2.All outsourced operations will be scheduled only after the Center receives the signed quotation and proof of payment.

3.For key equipment, outsourced operation reservations must be made via Chip Driven — Taiwan Semiconductor Resource Sharing Platform following the “outsourced operation” rules. After the Center receives the signed quotation and proof of payment, staff will provide the reservation time slot. Other reservation methods are invalid. (Non-key equipment does not require this step.)

4.Urgent/expedited service is not provided; please assess and plan your timeline accordingly.

5.Persons accompanying outsourced work must have cleanroom access permission and must swipe in with their own card. Those without cleanroom access will not be allowed to accompany the outsourced operation.

6.Note that the Center’s bank account for payment is different from NEMS’s. Carefully confirm the payee account on the quotation and email; incorrect wire transfers are non-refundable. Work will only proceed after payment is made to the correct account.

7.The Center will perform process steps agreed upon between both parties but does not guarantee experimental results.

8.Receipts for outsourced services will be provided according to the option chosen on the application form (within 2 weeks after proof of payment is provided).

1.Register an account in the commissioned operation service system (payer: supervisor or professor / requester: engineer or student) and submit a commissioned operation request.

2.The commissioned operation manager will contact the requester (by phone or email) to confirm the requirements.

3.After requirement confirmation, a quotation will be prepared based on the discussion results and a quotation sheet will be provided.

4.The requester signs the quotation sheet, completes the payment, and uploads the signed quotation sheet and payment proof to the commissioned operation service system.

5.The commissioned operation manager will provide a time slot for the requester to make a reservation via the Chip Drive – Taiwan Semiconductor Resource Sharing Platform according to the commissioned operation rules.

6.The requester submits samples (if required).

7.Commissioned operation is carried out.

8.The requester collects the finished results and receipt (based on the information provided in the system).

1.       Users must complete the Excellence Cleanroom training course and obtain cleanroom access permission (handled by the Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems Research Center). After that, they must register for and pass the equipment training and certification course of the Semiconductor Center to obtain equipment operation authorization (handled by the Semiconductor Center).

2.          To use the equipment, users must reserve a time slot through the Chip Driven – Taiwan Semiconductor Resource Sharing Platform according to the self-operation rules.

3.          Before the reserved time slot, users must go to Room 207 of the Excellence Research Building to pick up the equipment access card.

4.          Use the equipment during the reserved time slot.

5.          After use, please swipe the access control machine and return the equipment access card.

6.          If there is no overtime use, charges will be based on the reserved hours on the website, and a monthly invoice will be issued to the payer designated by the user.
