  • Introduction to the NTU Center for Semiconductor Processing and Systems Research

To strengthen Taiwan’s leading position in the global semiconductor industry and accelerate innovation in advanced process technologies and system integration, the College of Key Technologies at National Taiwan University (NTU) has established the Center for Semiconductor Processing and System Research (SPSR). The Center consolidates resources across key technological fields—including biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, innovative semiconductor materials, and advanced semiconductor device manufacturing—to enhance Taiwan’s industrial competitiveness, application diversity, and technological innovation capacity. The Center’s primary objectives include:

    • Development of Advanced Process Equipment and Technology R&D

The Center focuses on the development and application of nanoscale process technologies by integrating high-precision process tools to create a complete platform for advanced semiconductor device fabrication. This enables the research, testing, and verification of cutting-edge technologies.
In collaboration with world-leading research institutes, the Center will engage in joint development and multi-dimensional testing to promote deep technological integration. Through close R&D partnerships, the Center aims to accelerate technology transfer, enabling advanced processes to be applied in real production environments and eventually commercialized.

    • Semiconductor Talent Cultivation

The Center plans to collaborate closely with academic units and industry partners to develop a series of professional training courses and practical programs focused on semiconductor processing, system design, and integration.
These programs emphasize both theoretical knowledge and hands-on operation of advanced process equipment, allowing trainees to gain practical experience in real laboratory environments. The goal is to cultivate highly skilled engineers with strong technical abilities and seamless adaptability to industry needs.

    • Cross-Disciplinary Industry-Academia Collaboration and Technical Support

The Center actively promotes in-depth collaboration with domestic and international academia and industry, combining research strengths to jointly develop projects that accelerate the practical and commercial deployment of new technologies.
To support diverse user needs, the Center also offers a range of technical support services, including process assistance, material analysis, reliability testing, and technology consulting. These services aim to improve R&D efficiency and production yield while fostering a mutually beneficial ecosystem where academia and industry thrive together—driving comprehensive upgrades and innovation across the semiconductor value chain.

Through shared resources, technological innovation, talent cultivation, and collaborative partnerships, the NTU Center for Semiconductor Processing and System Research is dedicated to becoming a global core hub for semiconductor R&D. The Center will play a key role in propelling Taiwan’s semiconductor technology forward and sustaining its long-term industrial growth.
