Guidelines for the Establishment of the Center for Semiconductor Processing and Systems Research

Article 1

The National Taiwan University Graduate School of Advanced Technology (hereinafter referred to as “the College”) hereby establishes the Center for Semiconductor Processing and Systems Research (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) to align with national economic development and promote interdisciplinary research. Through the establishment of advanced process and testing facilities, the Center aims to strengthen Taiwan’s semiconductor process technologies and focus on key research areas such as artificial intelligence, biomedical applications, quantum computing, innovative semiconductor materials, and advanced semiconductor device fabrication. These Regulations are hereby formulated as the Regulations for the Establishment of the Semiconductor Processing and Systems Research Center of the Graduate School of Advanced Technology, National Taiwan University (hereinafter referred to as “the Guidelines”).

 

Article 2

The missions of the Center are as follows:

1. To enhance applied research in semiconductor process technology and systems manufacturing, and to promote breakthroughs in key technologies.

2. To organize and integrate professional research teams, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing.

3. To strengthen industry connections, promote academia–industry cooperation and joint innovation, and accelerate technology transfer and commercialization.

4. To develop training programs in semiconductor process technology, cultivating forward-looking professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

5. To promote international collaboration projects and technical exchange activities, deepening partnerships with leading global research institutions.

 

Article 3

An Advisory Committee shall be established under the Center, consisting of five to seven members. The Dean of the College shall serve as an ex officio member and the convener. Other members shall be appointed by the Dean upon recommendation by the Director of the Center from among scholars and experts within or outside the University who possess relevant expertise. Each term of appointment shall be three years and may be renewed. In the event of a vacancy, a new member shall be appointed following the same procedure, with the term lasting until the original term expires. The Advisory Committee shall meet at least once per year.

 

Article 4

The Center shall have one Director, who shall oversee all Center affairs. The Director shall be appointed by the Dean from among faculty members of the College with the rank of Associate Professor or above, or researchers of equivalent level. The term of appointment shall be three years and may be renewed once.

 

Article 5

The Center may have one Deputy Director to assist the Director in promoting and implementing the Center’s affairs. The Deputy Director shall be nominated by the Director from among faculty members of the College with the rank of Assistant Professor or above, or researchers of equivalent level, and appointed by the Dean. The term of appointment shall be the same as that of the Director.

 

Article 6

These Regulations shall take effect upon approval by the College Management Committee and acknowledgement by the Supervisory Committee of the National College of Key Areas Research. They shall be implemented from the date of promulgation.
